As COVID-19 continues to ravage the country, the film industry suffers more and more. The decline of the movie theatre has never been more evident than in movies such as “Tenet,” “SpongeBob: Sponge On the Run” and “Black Widow.”

One of the things I find most disappointing about our culture is how much stock we put into “image” and how we are perceived by those around us. For so long I have seen people pretend to be a different person just to be liked by people.

The Owasso High School Jazz Choir performed their Spring Concert on Monday, May 10. The concert consisted of seven group songs and six solo songs from different members of the group. This was the only concert that the group had performed this year, as the pandemic halted a lot of plans and normal traditions for the choir.

Last week at Owasso High School, senior students got a fun surprise to pick up in the main office. Brought all the way from 2016, seniors got the opportunity to read their letters they wrote to their 18 year old self from seventh grade.

There are many seniors throughout Owasso who have just wrapped up their high school careers. Whether that lasted the whole four years or just one season, every one of them overcame many challenges, made lifelong friends and, during the process, made lots of memories.

Small steps at a time and big leaps towards a great season. The Owasso Rams Marching Band is eager and has already started preparing for the fall season.

Coach Poteete is one of the newest additions to the Owasso coaching squad. Poteete came here from Arkansas to coach football and track. Poteete serves as an amazing role model to the student-athletes here at Owasso and is committed to making his athletes the best they can be.

In the wake of this year and everything that has happened, we need one thing more now than ever: support.

Just one year after graduation, Owasso alum Dalton Rogers has found himself in one of the most honorable positions in the Oklahoma Future Farmers of America (FFA) Organization.

After four years of hard work, the announcement that the class of 2021 has been waiting for has finally arrived; who is this year’s Valedictorian and Salutatorian? The students who claim these prestigious titles are Merrik Barnes and Shreya Rohatgi (respectively). 

To outsiders, these events may seem like nothing more than just that—events; however, after speaking with a few of the competitors, I’ve found that many of them view the Special Olympics as a time for friendship, fun and growth.

Coming from a family that loves sandwiches for breakfast, lunch and dinner, I decided to take on the honor of trying every single sub-sandwich place located in Owasso and give my honest and possibly brutal thoughts on each one.

Seeing people struggle with poverty is one of the most saddening things you can come across. While it’s impossible to help every single one of them, you can still make a difference in countless lives if you go to the right places. In Tulsa, there are many different ways and organizations that enable you to help.

When you think about the term “Odyssey of the Mind,” you probably think of a gradual exploration of the mind that ends in triumph. Well, to be fair, that’s exactly what it is.

At the heart of many of the events at Owasso High School (OHS), there's a selfless person willing to put in the work to help others and better student’s experiences. The leaders of the Junior and Senior Board are teachers that are going the extra mile to help create memories for students.

The sport is a fast paced game and is exciting to watch as a spectator. This was especially seen on Tuesday, when the whole entire sideline of the football field on the track was filled with parents, friends and others who have heard about this matchup.

In today’s social media climate, there is not a lot that you won’t be made fun of for. Just about any interest you have means you’re “basic” or trying too hard to be different. As much as I like to advocate for people to be themselves, despite the world’s opinion, I can also agree that the hate can get out of control at times.

Barack Obama and Bruce Springsteen. Two seemingly completely different people who came together through their friendship to make a podcast. This isn’t like most podcasts, it doesn’t have a story to tell or any single topic to cover.
