Every school year from January to April, the junior and senior girls of Owasso High School have a very exciting, though stressful, time choosing the statement garment they will grace the dance floor with on prom night.

Last week, hard work and passion flooded the stage as students showcased their artistic abilities at Owasso High School’s annual talent show.

“The Last of Us,” a video game originally released worldwide on June 14, 2013, has recently seen a revival on screen with the HBO show, “The Last of Us”. Due to its immersive storytelling, complex characters and immersive graphics for its time, it has widely been known as one of the best single-player story games ever released.

New Leaf serves its clients who have intellectual and developmental disabilities by helping them become more independent and find employment.

Both the Owasso boys and girls wrestling teams have had a successful start to their 2022-2023 season. With multiple wrestlers placing at each tournament, the teams have high hopes continuing on with the season.

It’s come to be that time of year again when everyone’s motivation spikes but ultimately, has no follow-through or adherence to the goals long-term. New Year’s resolutions date back to 4,000 years ago when the ancient Babylonians made promises to their gods as a way to be in good favor if they kept their resolutions throughout the year.

Imagine this: You’re lined up on the track, your legs are loose and your lungs breathe in the dry crispy air of the indoor track. Hundreds of people are crowded in the building, all to watch you race.

A resurging name in the Oklahoma speech and debate scene, Owasso High School solidified its spot last weekend with its first invitational tournament since 2016.

Owasso is a largely commercialized town in which attacks from the food industry flood innocent consumers daily. Other than the copious number of chicken restaurants, of course, this is never more prevalent than in the Owassoians' overabundance of Burger options.

Have you ever wanted to talk to people in different countries but needed to learn how to? This year, Madame Wright's French class has decided to write to penpals again. While completely voluntary, the students jumped at the chance to talk to people halfway across the world.

Many places of entertainment were shut down after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving many people stuck in the house. In 2023, with the pandemic being under control, establishments are now open – including movie theaters.

With the ever-popular football season coming to a bittersweet close, sports fans look elsewhere to get their daily dose of competition. While many turn to basketball, wrestling or choir, the esports scene has gained more traction than ever.

Social media has become a great resource for high school clubs and organizations to spread information. The Owasso High School's Unified Club began using TikTok at the start of the 22-23 school year. Their account has recently gone viral, and they have a growing following with over  55,000 followers. 

At long last, the town of Owasso, Oklahoma, has blossomed enough to expand its variety of businesses to a large extent, and locals rejoice at the opening of the city’s very first candy store, Candy Destination. Open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday, this new small business has Owasso students on a sugar high. 

Battle for the Buckle is Owasso FFA’s very own showmanship contest, specifically designed by their teachers to help improve the student’s skills in the livestock ring. Owasso High School’s FFA chapter is a community-driven organization that utilizes important leadership skills within a variety of agricultural classes.

You may have seen some pretty sick rides driving around Owasso, and maybe you’ve seen some car shows here too. It’s hard to spot them, but you’ll know when you see a cool car based on its engine noise or even paint scheme. There’s a whole community that revolves around, you guessed it, cars!

Dena Yang looks back as a festival dancer. She, along with our other OHS student Saint Sophie Vang, rehearsed for months and even baked to earn enough funds in order to take part in the Hmong New Year Festival.

How easy is it to tell what’s real and what’s fake? What is science and what is pseudoscience? These are the questions that Mrs. Chatwin wants her students to think about with her new, fascinating and frankly off-putting classroom decoration.

Finals are quite possibly the most nerve-wracking part of the school year. Many high schools give them at the end of the semester to test students' retention of the topics taught to them throughout the year. For many students, this can make or break their grade. They must work to reach into the back of their brain and grab knowledge they have not gone over in months.

When it comes to Owasso High School's immense pride in their teachers and faculty, Mr.Shane Ridenour and Mrs.Stephani Barger are some of the best examples. The title of “Teacher of the Year” is something that most teachers strive for at some point in their careers; this 2022-2023 school year, that dream was accomplished by Ridenour and Barger.
