How do you use the internet? For most, it’s a safe place to share their thoughts, feelings and creations with friends, family and strangers alike. Others use it as a means of watching personalities, celebrities and events that they can only dream of attending. Below all else are the people who use the internet to lie, cheat, and steal from others. Because they’re all online, it’s okay, right?

Owasso Highschool is proud to have three recipients this year. Seniors Carina Galutia, Will Earnhart and Eli Hall are members of this elite class of high school scholars. Their years of hard work, along with their incredibly brilliant minds, have helped them earn this accomplishment and open doors for their future academic endeavors.

Art: what is it? The question is not as stupid as it sounds. Art, in short, is what one makes it to be. Art is a mode of expression to say something that cannot be simply put into words. Here at Owasso High School, many students take this expression to the fullest extent.

The one-act competition is something that Owasso High School has participated in for years. “Kaleidoscope” is the one-act selected this year for the Owasso theater department's first contest piece and it seems the students in the department were ecstatic.

One of Owasso’s very own art teachers, Mrs. Collins, was accepted last week to be in the 2022 Plaza Walls Mural Expo in Oklahoma City! People that had been chosen to participate years prior would get to paint their mural, and then the next year, new artists would be brought in to paint over their masterpieces and create something new.

The Owasso boys wrestling team has started off the year with a new head coach, Kyle Ryan. Coach Ryan is the son of Mike Ryan, who was the previous head coach at Owasso High School. Coach Ryan was greatly influenced by his dad throughout his wrestling career and into his journey as a coach.

The choir is usually overlooked at Owasso High School, though with hundreds of trophies and plaques hanging on their walls, it should be quite the opposite. In light of this prestigious reputation, Owasso has been chosen annually to host the NCDA All-District auditions. This year Owasso students will host and audition to compete against other students from the top choirs in the district.

Owasso High School is a fairly large school with about 3,000 students. With that many students, there are copious amounts of different courses offered beyond the basic English and math classes. While this is true, some students at Owasso High are voicing their opinions that the school needs to offer a new variety of courses. Let’s hear what four different OHS students have to say about this.

Owasso’s Varsity Cheer squad won first at the state competition on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022. The competition was held at Union High School, and the pressure on the competing teams was definitely on. With a new competitive division and a new routine, the cheerleaders had their work cut out for them and slayed the game regardless.

High schoolers often have a hard time choosing what they want to do later on in life. They can’t seem to make up their minds regarding their future plans. Luckily, plenty of alums who have experienced Owasso High School have already chosen their career paths.

An educated populous may be fundamental to society, but it’s a shame that public schools don’t teach life skills such as money management or how to file taxes, right? Simply put, no. While it is essential to learn these skills in life, it should not be the school's responsibility. That’s where PFL comes in.

Jentri Sinor is the newest addition to the Owasso Rams Athletics staff, and she offers expertise in a unique side of the world of sports: nutrition. As a sports nutritionist, she looks to inform and give athletes techniques on proper nutrition, a key part of training. Her compassion for the athletes and passion for nutrition showed early in her search for a career.

The Owasso area is constantly flourishing with new additions to the community, and as the end of 2022 is approaching, there are new projects to anticipate. From new food stops to family attractions, Owasso is meeting the growing demand.

With the start of the Owasso Rams football season comes high hopes and even higher pom-poms. Last Saturday, Owasso High School’s Varsity Cheer team made their way to Broken Arrow High School to compete in Regionals, their first competition of the year.

High schoolers are known for their profound and intricate expressions of the things they love and hate. The nonchalant manner in which Princeton Xiong, the freshman to whom the quote belongs, conveyed himself seemed to radiate a mindset that’s commonly found amongst many freshmen regarding the ups and downs of high school.

Atalie Sherman is a junior at Owasso High School who overcame many challenges during the academic year and scored a five on the AP European test. Moreover, Sherman discovered in August that she had won the Indigenous Recognition Award for her scores.

Owasso’s Varsity Football team hasn’t exactly had the most epic start to their 2022-23 season. With quite a few seniors sitting out due to injuries, the season had a rough start by playing the highest-ranked team in the state, Bixby. Unexpectedly, another senior and major leader on the team, Cole Adams, returned to the field after halftime, not suited up, apparently injured.

Constant construction, busy restaurants, Friday night football — Owasso seems like a happening town. Owasso, Oklahoma has over 40,000 citizens, and it is rapidly growing with more people, new ideas and different cultures meeting together. With all of its progress, one wonders, “Was Owasso always like this?”

Mrs. Abuelaileh is an Intermediate Algebra and Algebra I teacher who displays kindness and compassion for all of those around her. She comes back this school year for her 3rd year of teaching but her 12th year at Owasso.
