The backbone of improving Owasso

By Lizzy Petersen

Just caddy corner from Owasso Highschool is a family-owned chiropractor working hard to help people improve their health, fill the community with kindness and take the initiative to aid the growth of Owasso. Dr. Kirk, a father, husband, business owner and chiropractor, got his start twenty-five years ago.

“I was planning on being an optometrist,” Kirk mentioned when asked if being a chiropractor was his original plan for the future.

From an injury during a game in a church basketball league to simply moving furniture, Dr. Kirk had messed up his back enough to land him in the hospital. Only then did he finally listen to his wife and business partner to go see a chiropractor, or as he would call them, a “quack.” He recovered with the help of the chiropractor and soon realized that he would prefer to help a wider demographic of people, rather than only those who may only need to be seen for optometry.

Getting started, though, proved difficult.

“We struggled a lot to get our practice off the ground,” Kirk recalled.

From the real possibility of having all their equipment repossessed to trying to establish enough clients, Dr. Kirk realized that he needed to be the change. This sparked motivation within him to bring awareness to other small businesses in the Owasso area. He wanted these new businesses to have clients right off the bat, the ability to pay their bills and help the local economy in general. One specific Owasso business he was able to help was Three Dog Bakery. He generously opened up a tab there and told all of his clients to check it out and buy one item for their dog “on him.”

“We also like to do things in the office. We treat pastors and veterans for free,” Kirk states.

The community can really appreciate what Kirk Chiropractic does for others, as Owasso focuses heavily on supporting our veterans with programs like Folds of Honor. The clinic also holds drives for other community groups such as their annual food drive for The Mission Owasso, which they’ve been doing for over fifteen years. It is genuinely refreshing to see a company work for the greater good and inspire others to do the same.

Kirk Chiropractic is a loving environment that will always work hard to ensure their clients are at their best and feel like family whenever they come to see them.
