Goodbye Class of ‘23
The Class of 2023 has brought many amazing people through the doors of OHS, though one of many hard goodbyes this year is to our Senior Writing Staff. Our six seniors have made the journalism class what it is: a safe, creative, open and fun class.

Danner McGarrah’s journey through music
Danner McGarrah is a senior who is new to Owasso Public Schools. McGarrah has been to three different high schools, choosing Owasso due to its very successful music program. McGarrah has been in choir since third grade, is a five-year OkMEA All-State medalist, a six-year All-District medalist and also performed in the prestigious OkCDA All-State High School Jazz Choir this year.

Owasso Girls Golf
The Owasso girls' golf team has started off their season with success thanks to Coach Johnson. With two second-place finishes at both their home tournament and at the region preview, Coach Alexis Johnson has high hopes for Regionals and State.

Smashed Thumb Greenhouse
The Smashed Thumb Greenhouse, located off 116 St. N and Yale right before Highway 75, has an incredible story of origin. Tracie Poland, the owner of the greenhouse, was 38 years old when she threw rose moss out into her yard after she decided a garden would brighten up her house.

Seniors Slay the Day
Friday, April 21 proved to be a very busy day for the seniors of Owasso High School. There were three separate events going on, and students were out of class from first hour all the way until sixth hour. Regardless, it was a lovely time filled with sentimental camaraderie and nostalgia.

Dodgeball tournament: the power of friendship
Owasso High School recently had its annual dodgeball tournament that helps raise funds for the senior grad bash. Students created teams with names from the Band Kids to the Bill Clinton’s worst nightmare with costumes from coordinating t-shirts to ski masks.

Dave Green: the man of sound
If you’ve ever performed on the Mary Glass PAC stage, then you’ve interacted with Mr. David Green. His job title is literally “PAC Specialist,” which encompasses everything in the PAC. While his position monitors every aspect of the PAC, most who know him associate him with the PAC’s sound system. Dubbed Owasso High School’s “Man of Sound.”

Collins’ Zoology releases trout!
On Monday, April 3, Ms. Collins took her Zoology classes to release a cooler full of juvenile trout that her students had helped raise into the lower Illinois River flowing from Tenkiller Lake. The group rode an hour and a half to Gore, Oklahoma, which happens to be the state’s trout capital.

Owasso Lady Ram Soccer’s New Coaching Staff
Nearing the end of their preseason, the Owasso Lady Rams Soccer Team experienced the unexpected loss of their head coach, resulting in the assistant stepping up and taking over. Abraham Khalil, better known as Coach K, previously coached soccer at Broken Arrow but moved to Owasso at the beginning of the year due to his liking of the district and players.

Turnpike Troubadours return to Tulsa
The Turnpike Troubadours represent a story of trailblazing and defiance in what it means to make it in country music. Seemingly, the Tahlequah based band has stayed true to their roots. Led by lead singer and songwriter Evan Felker, the Troubadours sound is unique and artistic but it still holds true to the genre, a rarity in the modern country music scene.

Equality Club: memories we made
As you walk through the door, you hear laughter filling the dimly lit room. People playing card games in a circle invite you to join in. Others are lying on a couch playing games on their phones, the rest happily chatting away in groups. This is Equality Club.

A picky eater tries the unique foods Owasso restaurants have to offer
I still struggle with certain textures and strong, unfamiliar flavors. So, to further break out of my sheltered mindset toward food, I decided to eat/drink dishes I would normally find unpleasant.
