The Royalverse has taken over Owasso High School. Yet despite its popularity, some still haven’t discovered the intricacies of the Royalverse. Like Marvel or DC, the Royalverse is a fictional universe of thousands of super-powered individuals. However, unlike Marvel or DC, the Royalverse was created entirely by one mastermind student, Paul Kha.

Last Wednesday, students taking part in a research group dedicated to the Tulsa Race Massacre took a field trip to Greenwood to learn and experience the history of the city’s well known tragedy. These photos follow the students on their trip through Greenwood, chaperoned by Mrs. McBride and Mrs. McCammon.

This year, Owasso High School celebrated the veterans in our community on Friday, Nov. 11. Two assemblies were held in the PAC for 9th & 10th grade, as well as 11th and 12th grade. As students and guests filled the PAC, there was a slideshow playing, used to highlight the veterans in our community, as well as students’ and faculty’s family members/friends who served, or are currently serving in the military

Mrs. Ciancio has been a longstanding fan favorite for science students. Perhaps her smallest class each year is Advanced Placement Biology, with one hour of the day (fifth hour), that contains only 16 students. However, Mrs. Ciancio fills her classroom with nostalgic and relative activities that help university-level science make sense.

Being a senior athlete at Owasso means hard work and stepping into roles of leadership within the team. However, in return, lots of memories and relationships are made along the way. Just this last Thursday, the senior night football game was a success for the Rams, where the senior athletes had to step up and help lead their team.

The rise and fall of Owasso High’s favorite (fake) club has been an emotional time for students who were simply trying to build student involvement with their peers. The club’s genesis was a humorous flier that was posted mysteriously around the hallways at OHS, only to be discovered by admin four short days later, who tore down the posters destroying the club’s and the students’ spirits. The poster left everyone, teachers and students alike, in total confusion. Was this club real? Who created it? Why post it around the entire school?

The Rap duo Drake and 21 Savage have returned again to follow up their Billboard top 25 single with one of the most anticipated albums of the last month. Through high-value production and undeniably rhythmical beats, the duo proves that careful consideration has been utterly thrown out as they roll out the red carpet for their new album “Her Loss”.

Cross Country runners often get asked the question “why do you run?”. A big part of their answer is the state meet. The Oklahoma State Cross Country meet takes place at the end of October every year, but it stands as an accumulation of months of running, stretching, lifting and overcoming mental challenges along the way.

Driving through Owasso, it is nearly impossible to disregard the enormous amounts of road construction. Almost every major roadway is undergoing some amount of alteration to make it better. Owasso is a growing community, and as it grows, adaptations must occur. Many of these changes include widening the roads to accommodate the enlarging population, patching road damage from weathering and simply updating the stop signs to traffic lights to prevent accidents.

Despite the preseason hype and winning reputation, the Owasso Rams Football team had a rough start to the season. The season kicked off with the Rams on the wrong side of a 49-14 blowout. Then, to add to the rough start, injuries piled up for the Rams, and their record fell to a mere 1-4 going into the homecoming game. A homecoming game, that is, without senior quarterback Mason Willingham who sustained an injury in the previous week’s game.

Among many of the clubs at Owasso High School, the African American Heritage Club stands out as a supportive, community-based group highly deserving of every student’s support. Sponsored by Ms. McCammon, the club serves as a safe space for African American students to come together and discuss issues relating to personal grievances, recent news and minority communities. The club is one of the most open and caring groups one could find on campus.

Keaton Curtis is a 17-year-old Owasso senior and has been making money for his beats on youtube since 2018. Since then, Curtis has achieved many accomplishments, such as hitting his first million streams with a self-produced beat. The song was published under the Rap duo “Homicidesquad” and was performed live in Brooklyn when the duo opened for Playboi Carti earlier this year.

It’s rare that a show based on another piece of media is leagues better than its counterpart; luckily for us, CD Projekt RED set the bar low with “Cyberpunk: 2077,” putting “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners” on a pedestal from the get-go. Edgerunners is based within the confines of the Cyberpunk universe, but in no way is it confined.

Mrs. Mindy Bettridge is one of Owasso’s most treasured teachers. She is the lead choral director for the Owasso Choir, as well as a new addition to the OSU teaching staff where she teaches Choral Literature. The most welcoming and loving person, Bettridge is honestly one of the best people to learn from here at OHS.

Clothing makes a strong first impression. It may not seem important in the moment, but how someone looks is a significant factor in expressing individuality. Some students in Owasso have found a way to manipulate this first impression and all interactions that follow with something they call “style.” While many students may walk into their closet, spin in a circle and pick whatever clothes they land on, a few Owasso Rams choose their outfits intricately. 

Owasso’s Sports Medicine team has gained a new member this year who has made a great addition to an already great team. Kate Gready graduated from the University of Tulsa back in May and has been working at Owasso, her first job since graduation, for about four months now.

Nearly two years after 2020’s “Man on the Moon III,” Kid Cudi makes his long-awaited return with his 8th album and an accompanying animated film. “Entergalactic” arrived on Sept. 30, 2022, with an album drop on streaming platforms and a Netflix film release. The album is intended to be a soundtrack for the film, with songs directly touching on characters and plot points.

How do you use the internet? For most, it’s a safe place to share their thoughts, feelings and creations with friends, family and strangers alike. Others use it as a means of watching personalities, celebrities and events that they can only dream of attending. Below all else are the people who use the internet to lie, cheat, and steal from others. Because they’re all online, it’s okay, right?

Owasso Highschool is proud to have three recipients this year. Seniors Carina Galutia, Will Earnhart and Eli Hall are members of this elite class of high school scholars. Their years of hard work, along with their incredibly brilliant minds, have helped them earn this accomplishment and open doors for their future academic endeavors.

Art: what is it? The question is not as stupid as it sounds. Art, in short, is what one makes it to be. Art is a mode of expression to say something that cannot be simply put into words. Here at Owasso High School, many students take this expression to the fullest extent.
