Senior Spotlight: Tyler Rich and Addison Rhoades

By Katelyn Fisher

Being a senior athlete at Owasso means hard work and stepping into roles of leadership within the team. However, in return, lots of memories and relationships are made along the way. Just this last Thursday, the senior night football game was a success for the Rams, where the senior athletes had to step up and help lead their team.

One senior, Tyler Rich, knows what it takes to be a leader to his team. He proved this at the senior night football game where he guided his teammates to victory.

Rich says that being a senior football player is “Just being a leader, giving people a ride, telling people to stop messing around [and] making big plays to get the team going.”

He enjoys being a part of the football team here at Owasso and says that it adds to the experience of being a senior.

He states, “without football you wouldn't really get to live the experience of the Owasso life; I think sports really brings it out.”

While his main focus is football, Rich knows the importance of his grades. His advice to upcoming seniors would simply be to not drop out of high school and to focus on their GPA.

Rich says to “stay in school, focus on your grades, and worry about your GPA.”

Another senior athlete at Owasso is Addison Rhoades. She has been a member of the cheer team for two years now and has loved every moment of it. From the memories made between teammates to the excitement and chaos of Friday night football games, Rhoades is so thankful to be a part of such an amazing environment.

She states, “It's one of the greatest feelings. You feel so loved here. They don't have favoritism, you just get treated the same as everyone else.”

As a part of the cheer team, Rhoades has first hand experience with the responsibilities that come with being a senior. One of these responsibilities is stepping up and becoming a leader to those around her.

She explains that “as a senior, and as a veteran you have to be able to keep people in line to make sure they do their job.”

Rhoades’ advice to future seniors would be to have fun and enjoy it. You only get one chance to be a senior in high school, so make the most of it.

She exclaims, “just live it out, it's so fun. I love it!”
