There’s an Imposter Among Us

By Kai Neuberger

Among Us, the game of kill or try to “sus” out the killer. A popular mobile and PC game that has taken the world by storm. Whether you’ve seen it in playthroughs, as people's Halloween costumes, fan art, cosplay, etc. there’s no way that you haven’t seen it.

While I mostly played with friends, it was my first time ever getting to play this game. I have to say, it’s fun. It’s been a wild ride learning the maps and how to sabotage. Especially because I was playing on mobile. While I knew it wasn’t the best of ideas, as of the recent hack of the mobile version, my computer didn’t support the, well, computer version.

Catching onto everybody’s kill styles in the friend group was the easiest way to achieve victory in our private rounds. My final time as imposter last night, I even won! However, when switching to the public after everyone went to bed for the night it was much less entertaining. Nobody was there for the thrill of the hunt and they were all very rude. I have to say private games are the way to go.

I can truly see why the game is so addicting though. I was up playing for hours my first night without even realizing how long it had been! Usually, I can tell I’ve been playing for too long, even when checking out a new game, however, time was flying and I had no idea. Playing with friends when you can really get into how they think makes the game so much more interesting.

Overall, I’d say playing by yourself is boring after a few rounds. With friends, however, it’s a whole new experience that can suck you in for hours on end. Would definitely recommend it with the right group and after everyone’s homework is completed.
