The Owasso Christmas Tree Farm is a necessary destination for families during the holiday season. They have numerous types of pine trees to sell and a gift shop supplied by local businesses. With rows of Christmas trees as far as the eye can see, enchanting smells of Christmas pine and hand-crafted ornaments from small vendors, families are guaranteed to take home some holiday magic.

The tree farm was started by Bill Jacobs and his supportive wife, Laura. Jacobs has worked many farms in his time but worked hard to get this one to its prime. His family started with their land, a small house and a small apron as a cash register. Since then, they have made many additions to their farm, house/office and business.

Jacobs, now 86 years old, is continuing to work every day. He has plenty of help from his family and many strong local teenagers to help with the hard labor. Jacobs and his family intend to keep the farm run by the younger generations in his family. His grandson is a big help with keeping their farm advertised on social media.

“Jono created a website and does a great job photographing the farm,” Eric Horry (Jacobs’ son-in-law) mentions.

They work hard to make sure their products are top-of-the-line for their loyal customers. Rather than doing what typical chain stores do to sell Christmas trees, they make an effort to pick the best trees available from Oregon, and they ship them in a refrigerated storage container. Real trees can perish fast, so the workers do their best to give their customers thorough instructions to take care of their trees and to make sure their trees last.

Since they are so popular, they get many customers from out of town. Some even travel from out of state. Eric Horry explains how far people have traveled to visit their farm.

“We have gotten people from Fayetteville, Arkansas, Oklahoma City, Kansas City, Amarillo, Albuquerque and even someone who tried to buy a tree and bring it back to Wisconsin.”

Unfortunately, he mentions that it is hard to take trees to places that are further than two hours away. Wisconsin was the only place they had to turn down. They can always rely on customers to come back and see them each year. Jacobs mentions that he loves to be a part of different families’ Christmas.

“We had a woman who was unable to buy a tree. We gave her and her son a tree. They reached out to us the next year when she was back on her feet, and she decided to pay it forward by providing another family with their own tree,” Jacobs and Horry recall, mentioning how this story moved them.

Jacobs shows that he has a passion for helping others and bettering the community through his work at the tree and berry farm. He and his family all share the same values of wanting everyone to have the best possible Christmas together. He has mentioned ways that he has worked to improve the Christmas tree and agricultural industry. Not only is he a part of the Oklahoma Christmas Tree Farmers’ Association, but he also works to teach local agriculture teachers his ways on his farm to gain success.

The farm is a beautiful place to visit with friends and family. Their welcoming spirit will have you feeling loved and in the holiday spirit.
