“Battlefield 2042” vs “Halo Infinite”: Who Will Dominate
By Braylon Sport
The gaming industry has been seriously lacking for a long time. With no releases except for the typical yearly “Call of Duty” games, which have been tanking recently, people have been eagerly anticipating the 2021 holiday season for new games. This pent up excitement for a new title built a lot of hype around the two triple A titles set to release around the holidays: “Battlefield 2042” and “Halo Infinite.” But the question remains, which game will win over the hearts of gamers?
“Battlefield 2042” was originally announced back at E3 2021 where it was met with immediate praise. With features such as Battlefield Portal, allowing the player to create their own “Battlefield’ experience,” and HazardZone, which provided a more tactical approach to the franchise, fans were extremely excited for the first “Battlefield” game in over two years. However, this excitement was shattered when the game hosted its open beta a month out from launch. This beta was met with heavy criticism as the game held too many bugs and felt lackluster compared to past titles in the franchise, but all was not lost as there was still hope for the full release on November 19. When the game fully released many of the bugs had been patched, but that did not fix the lack of content that the game was still suffering from. Although the game’s launch was a disaster, there is still hope for fans as the developers are constantly fixing their game and listening to the community.

With the last “Halo” game being released all the way back in 2015, longtime supporters of the series have been yearning for a new title for almost six years. Hence, when “Halo Infinite” was announced at E3 2018 fans lost their minds with excitement. Three years after its announcement “Halo Infinite”’s multiplayer had a surprise launch around a month before it was scheduled to release. The game was met with immediate praise as it had improved on many of the faults that its predecessor “Halo 5” had. This new “Halo’ experience” feels robust and the most traditional “Halo’ experience” fans have had in a long time.
So which game is better? As of right now it is a safe bet to say that “Halo Infinite” is surpassing “Battlefield 2042” in almost every way. Fan reviews alone are enough to put “Halo” over “Battlefield,” but all is not lost for “Battlefield.” As players start to get comfortable with using Battlefield’s Portal experience and creating their own experiences, the game's full potential could unlock.
