Owasso Football: Wrapping up the season
By Katelyn Fisher
The Owasso Rams Football season is officially over after a heartbreaking loss against Bixby in the State Championship. They had a rough start to the season, but the team quickly turned it around and eventually made it to the State Championship, where they took home second place.
A junior on the team, Trevor Gage, emphasizes, “I think it was a great season. We started off 1-4 and to come back and go to the State Championship game. I think that's amazing.”
While the loss might seem discouraging to some, the Owasso Rams won’t let it stop them from coming back and being in a state championship next year. They will continue to push and strive to become better players who will hopefully lead their team to victory. Sadly, this loss ended many of the seniors' football careers, but new players will step up to fill the holes that will be left by their seniors.
Gage states, “That loss, it was tough; I didn’t want the seniors to end off that way, but you know, going into next year, I feel like our team has the mindset now. We’ve gone to the State Championship, but for next year let's go get that gold ball.”
The Owasso Rams have tasted victory this year and don’t plan on letting it get away again. With new players coming in and new mindsets, hopes are high for their next season. The Rams will continue to practice and improve every day for a shot at another Championship.

The Rams are given a week off after their hard-fought season, but then it’s right back to work. They will continue to practice and lift throughout their off-season to prepare for the next year.
Gage explains, “This week we’re off, we have exit interviews, but other than that we’re gonna start up next week. We’ll get the freshmen in, we’ll start lifting, do some technique stuff. And then when we get back from Christmas break, we’ll start the off-season lifting.”
