Nothing can scare me: Tulsa area haunted houses

As days become cooler this fall, an uncanny ambiance cloaks over our everyday lives. This mysterious atmosphere coordinates suitably with one of my favorite fall traditions- haunted houses. Why are haunted houses so awesome?  Well, they aren't scary. Haunted houses are supposed to awaken my darkest fears, yet they never have. This year, I decided to embark on a mission to become fearful.

Oklahoma Asylum Haunted House

Oklahoma Asylum Haunted House is a haunted house located in Nowata, Oklahoma. The actors at this house are allowed to touch you, and in fact, they even smear blood all over you! To be honest, I was severely disappointed in this haunted house. The fear factor of this house was almost non-existent, with few jumpscares and the only attempts to scare me feeling very much forced. The particular tropes they used (such as a “mad” doctor) were very much cliche and overused. The overall design of the haunted house was dull, to say the least, and this left me feeling bored and underwhelmed by the end of my trip. I was likely in the house for only around ten minutes, which gave me the impression that I wasted my money on this excursion. My overall rating is 2/10; I didn’t even let out a scream the whole time.

The Hex House

The Hex House is a haunted house located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The actors here are allowed to touch you, but in all honesty, they do not touch you very often. This house deserves a Grammy for its actors. The acting felt very unscripted and was more exciting than that of any other haunted house I went to. The tactics used to scare me throughout the haunted house felt original and not stereotypical compared to the previous houses I had been to. To top the acting, the architecture of the rooms was perplexing, and this made the atmosphere of the building virtually morbid. I was in the house for around 20 minutes, which is a reasonable amount of time. Despite this, this haunted house felt more like a fun time than a scary one. I would recommend this house for being well put together, but I cannot say I was fearful. This house's rating is a 5/10 on scariness and a 9/10 on design.

Psycho Path Haunted Attraction

Psycho Path Haunted Attraction is a haunted house located in Sperry, Oklahoma. The actors are not allowed to touch you, and the attraction has two main parts: a ride and the haunted house. The haunted house itself relied a lot less on genuine acting than it did on jumpscares. I was startled by these, but I would not say I was frightened. While going through the house, it was very dark and hard to find your way around. Construction of the house was minimal, and this made the experience unconvincing instead of being a realistic ambiance. The haunted house took around 20 minutes to get all the way through, which made me feel like my money was not entirely wasted. This house warrants a solid 3/10.
