Must Watch Movies

By Jack Fenner

This past year has been fantastic when it comes to movies. We’ve seen some great films  when it comes to all genres. With all of these wonderful movies, it's hard to decide which ones to see, so I’m going to give you my must-watch list from this past year.

1. Knives Out

Starting off the list, we have what is probably the most fun to watch movie of the year. Rian Johnson’s Knives Out is a murder mystery with an interesting twist that changes the concept of these types of movies. The setting reminded me of a game of “Clue,” but I soon realized that it was going to be a much more complex story. It is unlike any other murder mystery movie that I have ever seen, and if you have not seen it, then get your tickets quickly while it's still in theaters.

2. Us

Jordan Peele’s second horror movie Us could not follow Get Out, its predecessor, any better. Developing an interesting and creative story has become Peele’s specialty. Us has a terrifying and inventive story that keeps you asking questions even after you leave the theatre. Without a doubt, it is my favorite horror flick from this year.

3. 1917

Intense, captivating, and overwhelming are just a few words I would use to describe 1917. This movie drops you straight into the battlefields of WWI, as you follow two British soldiers on a seemingly impossible mission. 1917 is the only movie on this list that I would say must be watched in the theatres. The movie caters to theatre-viewing experience with its amazing visuals and sound design and will send you straight into the trenches.

These are only a few of my recommendations. Honestly, it's hard to go wrong with a lot of movies from this past year, but these ones cannot be missed!
