Got a Clue?

By Emily McCaslin

On March fifth and sixth, Owasso High School’s theatre program put on a production of “Clue.”

To date, the Owasso High School’s theatre program had not put on a performance in a whole year. They started practicing for “Clue” in August, but had to stop production because of COVID-19 precautions. Now, they are finally back in business, putting on shows again for us to enjoy.

“Clue” consisted of an incredible set, built in just two weeks, and an amazing and talented cast to top it off.

Starting off, we met the characters: Colonel Mustard (Gideon Davis), Scarlet (Rose Ridley), Mr.Green (Lucas Booth), Mrs.Peacock (Marie Sanders), Professor Plum (Ashton Slaughter) and Ms. White (Tara Mason).

One night, everyone meets at the mansion for a dinner party. Everything is fine, until there is a suspicious murder. Locked inside, all of the characters have to work together to find clues and solve the classic “whodunit?”

One of my favorite characters was the maid played by Axyl Langford. Her incredible acting skills and her faked french accent created a truly fun character, making it sad when her character was later killed off.

The story took me back to years ago, growing up with “Clue” being a board game and a movie. It made me excited to see all of the characters that I’ve only seen on a board game box come to life on a stage.

An interesting aspect of the show is that it gave the audience an opportunity to put the puzzle together themselves. It doesn’t show who committed the crimes until the very end, so it is up to you throughout the film to make your own assumptions. I was very surprised at the resolution to the show, one I'm sure no one saw coming. Instead of having one killer, the whole cast turned out to be guilty.

This show was incredibly funny. With the improved lines and the sarcastic walks, they had me laughing my head off the entire time. It was an especially fun treat when the actors interacted with me sitting in the front row.

All in all, I would definitely recommend this show! The amazing actors and creative set, made for a fantastic and hilarious night.
