Are you a movie lover? Have you ever wanted to share and debate your film opinions with others? Whether you love comedies, dramas or even Disney, Film Club is the place for you. Film club is a safe place to share your opinions and discuss your favorite movies, their production value and whether or not Owen Wilson was the best choice for Lightning McQueen in Cars.

Film Club is run by two amazing people, President Reagan Rozzi and Vice President Kadence Morris, and is sponsored by Mrs. Stephens over at East campus. Rozzi and Morris are both obsessed with movies and agree that “film is art.”

While the original creator of the club, Rozzi, runs the show, Morris is a very essential part of the film club crew, working behind the scenes to make the club run smoothly and be the best it can be. Morris came up with the idea that the movies that are watched should be drawn out of a bag instead of decided by the leaders. Therefore, Morris is in charge of the movies that students recommend and ensures that they are accessible to everyone.

Morris states, “I think it's very important for students to be involved in the suggesting and the discussions. So it’s stuff people chose, and it’s more relevant [when students] pick, and it's not like us [leaders] trying to pick a movie.”

Even though this club is relatively new (having only had three meetings), there have been many lively discussions so far.

“I like Pixar movies, but Cars…” Sarah Matadi recalls that the discussion, seemingly about a Pixar movie, received a very loud, controversial discussion with topics like casting choices, animation choices and even music selection.

When asked if she hopes the club switches genre gears, Matadi replied, “I like [starting with] Disney because it’s light and fun, but I do hope we can kinda do both kids movies and [...] more hard-hitting stuff, and keep a nice balance.”

Film club will indeed start watching more serious movies, especially when Rozzi starts recommending movies, and the students can begin to lead the discussions every once in a while. The club will also start watching specific holiday movies for whatever season we’re in: Halloween, Christmas and maybe even Valentine's Day.

Reagan Rozzi’s film club brings a lot of new and exciting energy to OHS. This club has everything movie lovers would like, with fun-loving leaders, who are willing to have open discussions about crazy things like “Luca’s” color palette and Lightning McQueen’s detailed animation. So, in between your busy schedules, go ahead and stop by Film Club every Wednesday from 7:30 to 7:50 in the morning in Room 257 on the East Campus!
