Tulsa Tech offers a myriad of training and education opportunities for both high school students and graduates. One of these opportunities is the cosmetology programs. Located at the Broken Arrow, Peoria and Sand Springs campuses.
Cosmetology and esthetician jobs are rapidly growing in Owasso. This is why Tulsa Tech students are working tirelessly to become licensed professionals to one day enter the beauty side of the Owasso area workforce.
This tech program, and others like it, have proved to be very beneficial for the future of beauty students. Senior Hannah Barten and Junior Braylynn Palmer are currently in the San Springs cosmetology Tulsa Tech program and seem to be enjoying the experience immensely.

“I want to do cosmetology… because I think I’m just like good at it and I think it’s really fun and I like helping people,” expresses Barten.
Barten is choosing to specifically focus on hair styling, but is also continuing to get her license in overall cosmetology.
“We haven’t started hair stuff yet, so I can’t cut, but I can wash and style. ... I can do perms; I can also do facials and manicures,” Barten lists.
Barten plans to have a gap year after she graduates. Then she plans to have a hair styling job in Owasso and hopefully more opportunities from there.

Palmer is also hoping to be a hairstylist.
“I have always wanted to get good at women’s haircuts, but the more I learn and see, I want to get really good at men’s cuts,” Palmer states. “Overall I want to get good at hair.”
Palmer didn’t always know she wanted to be in this field. Her family finally helped her realize this was her passion.
“I thought [hairstyling] was just so fascinating and cool, and I have always loved doing all of the girl pampering, so I thought I might as well learn it myself,” Palmer provides.
Palmer has expressed her extravagant plans that she is going to be able to execute with her upcoming cosmetology license.
“I plan on getting my license and my business degree so I can start my own cosmetic line. ... I would also cut hair on the side. If that doesn’t work out, I would love to start my own salon,” Palmer establishes.
The Sand Springs Tulsa Tech cosmetology program has been able to give these students amazing opportunities. From amazing instructors, to beneficial lessons and hands-on learning. This tech course also helps students understand how to talk to customers and converse with clientele. Overall, the course has consistently helped students be ready to walk out into the cosmetology workforce and thrive.
