Dear Rambo: Senior Advice for Freshman
By ShayLa Blake
One thing no one really tells you about high school, or at least no one told me, is that the person you were upon starting high school is completely different from the person you will be upon graduation. You go through some big changes between ages fourteen and eighteen, and often they can be hard to navigate alone. It's always good to lean on your peers for some advice— especially when they've already experienced what you're going through! The seniors here at the Rampage want to extend a helping hand to the Freshman class of Owasso, in order to help them navigate their next years of high school. If you have a specific question that we didn’t cover, submit a form under the “Feedback” tab on the Rampage website, and we’ll answer it in another Dear Rambo column.
“Always know your options, whether it's with significant others, TCC/Tech, etc. Always know that there are bigger and better options and to never be complacent. Keep reaching for those options!” - Kelli Casteel
“Don’t worry too much about what’s going on right now, just know that today makes up a grain of sand out of the desert of your life, so don’t let it weigh you down too much.” - Draven St. George
“Do your best to get a proper sleep schedule. The drawbacks of sleep deprivation are nothing to be overlooked, often affecting students’ health long after high school.” - Emily Holson
“Live in the moment. High school goes by really fast, so soak in every bit of it and don’t take things for granted.” - Emily McCaslin
“Try not to put so much pressure on yourself. You're going to make a bad grade or miss an assignment; it’s okay, just do better next time. You're not going to be able to go to every party or football game, it’s okay. High school is so much more than its activities. You’re not always going to feel okay, and sometimes you might need a break. Just remember that it’s always important to take care of yourself. ” - ShayLa Blake
