Cheer Takes on Disney

by Jaycee Hampton

The Owasso varsity cheer squad headed straight to Florida, staying at the Disney Resort, for cheer nationals this past week. UCA was held at ESPN and the team was nothing less than ecstatic.

Co-captain, Natalie Bible, was extremely proud of her team and had amazing things to say about the trip.

“Competition was so much fun and such a great opportunity for Owasso Cheer to get their name out there in a bigger competition,” said Bible. “Both teams advanced straight to finals from the preliminary round and placed top 5 in such a big competition!”

Not only did Owasso cheer kill it on the floor, they also had a great chance to bond even closer as a team.

“This trip with my teammates was a once in a lifetime opportunity. It was a great experience and something we will all remember for the rest of our lives,” said Bible. “The most memorable moment for Owasso was getting recognized by so many teams at such a big competition!”

But this isn’t the end for Owasso cheer. With much time left in the semester, they still have big competitions coming up, and they are walking into it with a whole new confidence.

“Our next competition coming up is Stunt The Sport! Stunt the Sport! is such a fun environment and so much different than what people believe cheer is,” said Bible.

Stunt The Sport! is more like a match up against other teams, according to Bible, but it’s just as exciting. Owasso cheer will compete against many different teams leading up to the state game.

Their first match up will be March 24 at Owasso.

Bible encourages her teammates to keep working hard to reach the goals they have set for this year and the following years after Bible graduates.

“[To her teammates returning next year] Have fun with it because it goes by fast! Look forward to going to UCA again and keep working hard on your goals.”

Keep an eye out for your Owasso Varsity cheer squad and the exciting competitions they have coming up. They never disappoint!
