How Gucci and The North Face Are Changing Fashion

By Libby Booth

The fashion world is always changing. The styles, materials and the designs of the clothing are constantly on the move of coming in and out of what's trending. The thing about fashion is that it’s highly based around celebrities and what they’re wearing at the moment. More recently, celebrities such as Kendall Jenner, Haily Beiber, Kanye West and more of Hollywood's most known faces have been wearing more casual high-end clothing (more known as “street wear”). With street wear coming more into style, we’re beginning to see more high-end brands work with brands that more than just celebrities can afford. Late December, The North Face released a collaboration with the designer brand Gucci.

This collaboration is unlike any other because both brands separately reach two totally different consumers, but when coming together, they can help encourage people to try out different styles that they normally wouldn’t think about trying. The North Face X Gucci collaboration also makes fashion seem more universal. While Gucci is designer and typically is only worn for more professional or extravagant occasions, The North Face is worn by everyone and for much more casual outings, thus making it a very interesting collaboration.

What can make this collaboration so universal is that it’s really a middle ground clothing release for everyone. If you’re not really into Gucci items, typically, but are really into The North Face or vice versa, this collaboration can be really fun and exciting to get into while also staying more in your comfort zone. This release has already been worn by celebrities like ASAP Rocky, Jeffree Star and other famous figures going to show that more casual fashion is one of the top trends at the moment.

While the release is still on the more expensive side of clothing and is only available for purchase at their in-person pop-up shops right now, it’s definitely a release that opens a lot of doors for more out of the box collaborations and will get more people trying out different styles. This more casual street wear trend is most definitely a trend that I and many others can really get behind and will hopefully continue to broaden what is seen as fashionable.
